Orbis Hotel Group implemented the Code of Conduct for the Protection of Children from Sexual Exploitation in Travel and Tourism

Sexual exploitation of children in Poland is not a new problem. But people still look away with the hope that someone else will react. - Many cases are not reported, so the available statistics do not reflect the actual scale of the phenomenon. - says Gabriela Kuhn from the Empowering Children Foundation - International reports show that the problem of child abuse is growing in proportion to the increase in the number of travelers.

The Foundation tries to combat child sex tourism in Poland with the support of the Code of Conduct for the Protection of Children from Sexual Exploitation in Travel and Tourism.

The Code is signed by companies that have committed themselves to care for the safety of children and counteracting the sexual exploitation of minors. The Code is a response to a global problem that also affects Poland. The Orbis Hotel Group is the only company in Poland that until now has implemented the Code. For almost 5 years the Empowering Children Foundation has been conducting a prevention program in this area that requires not only interdisciplinary cooperation between the Foundation, the police and Orbis, but above all regular trainings, education and information policy. Only such comprehensive actions allow for a conscientious implementation of the Code of Conduct.

The Code is an international tool that promotes corporate social responsibility. It was developed by the non-governmental organization ECPAT Sweden, on the recommendation of UNICEF and the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) after the first World Congress Against Sexual Exploitation of Children, which took place in 1996. The coordination organization is based in Bangkok (link).
