Improving competencies of East-European professionals, who work with abused children, is realized through two-day trainings taking place twice a year in each country. Specific aspect of the year theme, group of professional participating and trainers are chosen by local coordinators of the project according to the identified shortcomings and weaknesses in the knowledge and skills of that group.
Local trainings in Bulgaria
Two local trainings for 50 professionals (social workers and psychologists from different districts of Bulgaria) took place in Bulgaria 17-18 November and 8-9 December 2011. The topic of the first one was “Work with children who have experienced violence” and the second one: “ The significant role of partnership in the psycho-instructive work with children placed in alternative care. Can we tame violence?”
Local trainings in Latvia
Two local trainings took place in November 2011 in Latvia. The first one was directed towards 27 prosecutors and was devoted to the topic of child-friendly justice and the second one was directed for 50 family court professionals, who had the opportunity to learn and discuss about the challenges and good practices in the work of Family court with families with young children, especially the child abuse prevention approaches.
Local Trainings in the Ukraine
Two local trainings were conducted in the Ukraine: on September 27-29 and October 20-21 2011. The topic of the first one was “Child sexual abuse prevention” and the second one: “Commercial sexual exploitation of children”. Altogether 38 professionals participated in the trainings. They were the representatives of Kiev City Centers of Social Services for Families, Children and Youth, NGO representatives, educational department’s representatives, social pedagogues, psychologists.
